Summary: Congress passed the Public Company Accounting Reform and Investor Protection Act, otherwise known as the Sarbanes-Oxley, in response to the corporate scandals of 2002 (MCI, Enron, etc).

| I want to thank everyone who made it to the November dinner meeting. Dr. Linnea B. McCord gave a riveting presentation on Sarbanes-Oxley. Her passion and enthusiasm for the subject showcased how relative the real world implications of this complicated subject relative are to our own day to day jobs. The two-part discussion was book ended around a fantastic Harvest buffet. I am on record for having gone back for seconds. It is only a rumor that I went back for thirds. Regardless of how many trips everyone made, I hope you all had as much fun as I did.
The enthusiasm for this year's dinner meeting continues this Thursday, December 2nd as ISM-LA explores the supplier/buyer dynamic. This year we have foregone our traditional supplier fair for interactive round table discussions. We have created an exciting opportunity for us as buyers to learn from our partners in the purchasing transaction, the sellers. The evening will also feature another stunning and delicious Holiday dinner buffet. Also, in keeping with the holiday spirit, everyone is asked to bring a small, unwrapped toy that ISM-LA will make sure gets into the hands of needy children here in Los Angeles.
