| Good Afternoon, Procurement Professionals! Allow me to bid you one last Happy Purchasing Month!
Thanks to all who attended the March dinner meeting. JP Reynolds of JPR Communications and Loyola Maramount University opened the evening with an exploration into the nuance of communicating in the corporate world. After a special dinner buffet, Paul Novak, national ISM’s CEO, presented on senior management’s growing expectations on purchasing.
We will next get together on Thursday, April 14th at the Hilton LAX for our April dinner meeting where we C. Rumbauch will help us make heads from tales of the following:
"2-102. Scope; Certain Security and Other Transactions Excluded From This Article.
Unless the context otherwise requires, this Article applies to transactions in goods; it does not apply to any transaction which although in the form of an unconditional contract to sell or present sale is intended to operate only as a security transaction nor does this Article impair or repeal any statute regulating sales to consumers, farmers or other specified classes of buyers."
For those not familiar with this language, as I was not until a few minutes ago, this is the scope of the Uniform Commercial Code –Article 2, Sales. On the second Thursday in April, we are going to learn how this and the rest of the code’s language impacts how we do business.
Please visit www.ismla.org to register. The evening kicks off with Registration/Networking at 5:30 PM and the meeting will be called to order at 6:00 PM.
We will be handing out nomination forms for the 2005-2006 Board. If you have an interest and want us to know about that interest, please reply to this email. I will make sure you are contacted directly.
We are very excited about this June’s Casino Night! This is the night you will want to make sure to bring a friend.
On behalf of the Board, I wish you a good evening and a happy tomorrow.
Thanks,
Lance
