| Happy Thursday, ISM-LA! A quick recap of last month’s meeting and a sneak peak at next month’s…
APRIL
Thank you to all who made it to the Hilton LAX for this April’s dinner meeting. I am sure those in attendance would agree that its was our most academic event of the year.
The pre-dinner activity was an interactive and competitive team building review of the C.P.M. exam’s Module 3 material. From the gripes and moans emanating from the room’s C.P.M.s, it was clear the exercise was a frustrating reminder of that module’s particular challenge. From the wide eyes of those preparing for, or not yet familiar with exam, it was a nice wake-up call.
After dinner, we were given a preview of changes on the horizon for the Uniforms Commercial Code’s Article 2. I was impressed with the enthusiastic presentation of a difficult topic, and the fact that its forecasting and analysis introduced upcoming realities that most state governments have yet to tackle. By no means does this impugn the topic’s prescience; rather it demonstrates our fortune at being ahead of the curve.
MAY
I am excited about May’s dinner meeting, taking place next Thursday, May 5th at the Hilton LAX. We return to a favorite topic of mine: leadership.
The Board of Directors is proud to host the nationally renowned speaker and self-described “Actualizer”, Kendall C. Wright, of Entelechy Training and Development, Inc.
The meeting will be called to order promptly at 6:00pm, with Mr. Wright’s presentation on “Diversity in Leadership” kicking off at 6:15 pm. His two-part presentation will bookend our 7:00 pm dinner buffet and will close the evening out around 8:30pm.
With registration starting at 5:30, make sure you get there early enough to enjoy and network our new favorite tradition, the Registration Social*.
Make sure to register at www.ISMLA.org.
*I just made up this name. It seems everyone is enjoying the opportunity to meet and and enjoy a beverage prior to the meeting starting, that it deserved a name of its own. Don’t let anyone say my time on the Board was without contribution!
ALSO:
- If you did not already do so in April, make sure to review and submit the attached ballot for the Board of Directors for 2005-2006 program year.
- Don’t forget to register for the May 7th C.P.M. Module 4 prep course at www.ISMLA.org.
Thanks,
Lance
