ETHICS: OPTIONAL OR NOT?
Dr. Linnea McCord returns as a guest speaker. Dr. McCord first joined us and educated us on Sarbanes Oxley. Today Dr. Linnea McCord returns to speak about ethics. Dr. McCord is an Associate Professor of Business Law at the Graziadio School of Business and Management of Pepperdine University. She practiced law for 14 years prior to entering the academic environment, including acting as the General Counsel of a division of a high-technology Fortune 500 multinational corporation headquartered in New York and Paris.
Dr. McCord received a
Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Sydney (including one year of law school at the University of Sydney Law School) a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Houston Law Center, and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She was the recipient of an Australian Commonwealth scholarship for both her undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Sydney. She was an editor of the Houston Law Review at the University of Houston Law Center and she received the Randall A. Hendricks award for outstanding law review comment and the Janet Burg
award for outstanding law student. At the University of Texas at Austin Dr. McCord was the recipient of the Dean’s award for academic excellence and the George Kozmetsky award for outstanding academic achievement. She is a member of the California Bar Association, the Texas Bar Association, the American Bar Association’s Committee on Corporate Governance, the National Association of Corporate Directors, the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Ethics Section of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business and the Society of Business Ethics.
