The Position

Summary

- Review open and late purchase order report routinely to preclude shortages.
- Through utilization of kanbans and MRP develop methodologies to eliminate expediting.
- Review MRP and Kanbans daily to ensure adequate inventory is on hand to support production lines.
- Place orders for purchase parts as dictated by MRP and establish kanbans that enable associates to order material.
- Participate in forecasting and inventory management to avoid floor shortages.

- Evaluate, coordinate and provide leadership in the disposition of Slow Moving Obsolete Inventory.
- Initiate and implement Engineering Change Orders and deviations for assigned product line parts.
- Achieve a systematic reduction of supplier lead times and graphically display progress monthly.
- Advise operations management on logistical considerations as they influence cycle time, transportation, and product costs.
- In collaboration with product line members establish kanbans and follow-up to ensure efficient operation.
- Establish plans to establish visual kanbans for all product line requirements and track performance to plan.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND:
- This position requires a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing organization.
- A college degree or equivalent is required.
- Any APICS training and/or certification are desirable.
- Prior experience with material planning and production control.
- Familiarity with electronics manufacturing is preferred.
- Additional experience working with new product introductions / engineering projects.
- Knowledge of computerized MRP systems is critical.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
In the long term, the Director of Logistics will lead a cross functional team to set up an optimized distribution network to achieve the company strategic long-term objectives.
In the medium term, he/she should proactively search new market trends, new technology and warehouse capacity to optimize the supply chain flow in multi-plant locations with maximum efficiency and lowest cost to support company vision.
In the near term, he/she should set up the logistics team and improve the logistical operation flow. He/she will be the key driver to plan and provide the most direct and on-time delivery to customers and will have the following responsibilities as key results areas:
- Prepare, implement and monitor the annual logistics budget to support the Americas mission
- Assess current systems and develop world-class logistics systems such that The Company can deliver product directly to key accounts in the most effective and efficient manner
- Coordinate with different functions such as Sales, Purchasing, and Production Planning to utilize the infrastructure (such as warehouse equipment and SAP) and service (such as broker service and truck service) properly to achieve year over year improvements and operational efficiencies
- Guide the Logistics team to optimize supply chain flow, internal transfer flow, and space utilization/turn over and stock level. Focus on customer fulfillment metrics and use KPIs and other appropriate metrics as needed to ensure improvements
- Manager vendor and freight negotiations
- Review and analyze the operational data to provide recommendations for future expansion into new distribution channels, new distribution methods and risk elimination within the supply chain
- Partner with HQ logistics function and import/export broker to improve import and export operations in a cost effective way
- Responsible for the SHE ( Safe, health and environment) and security of the warehouse and distribution center sites
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
The position requires a customer-oriented, results driven, self-motivated, and self confident executive with exceptional leadership, communication skills, trustworthiness, high EQ, and ability to manage risks. He/She must have the appropriate education or professional qualification and must be a team builder/player who has hands on experience to set up a team and operational system immediately.
- Bachelor’s degree coupled with additional industry certifications and/or training with at least 10 years Logistics management experience in CPG or private food label background of a multinational company.
- Strong leadership and exemplary communication skills with demonstrable track record in training, guiding and leading an organization.
- Proven ability coordinate and lead a logistics team to detect, analyze, monitor and eliminate problems, critical issues and risks
- Solid knowledge of import and export regulations. At least 5 years of working experience managing relationships with broker, freight forwarder and trucking company
- Solid knowledge and experience in coordinating logistics and shipping directly to large retail or big box chains and distributors
- Excellent freight knowledge and strong experience in handling a large number of orders. Strong vendor and freight management experience.
- Customer service oriented.
- Solid knowledge of the flow of supply chain & logistic processes - from order, invoices, to cash.
- Proactive mentality with the ability to utilize current, available resources to achieve business goals.
- Strong team building skills in the areas of planning and organization management along with interpersonal communication skills - Experience in successfully recruiting, training and developing, and managing a cross-cultural team in a multi-facility operation
- Solid knowledge of Logistics Management and ERP systems with experience assessing and improving systems. Lean processes experience a must.
